The Scientific Scrutiny of Sustainability with Professor Alex Edmans

Professor Alex Edmans will help investors learn to think like scientists – allowing asset owners to scrutinise whether asset managers’ sustainability credentials are as strong as they claim, and asset managers to vet whether studies touting the success of a sustainability strategy are actually backed up by the evidence. What questions should you ask? What might the data be hiding? What might be intentionally omitted? By questioning what you see, you can avoid being greenwashed and help achieve both strong financial returns and positive impact.

Alex Edmans is a Professor of Finance at London Business School with a PhD from MIT as a Fulbright Scholar. He was previously a tenured professor at Wharton and worked at Morgan Stanley as an investment banker. He serves on several advisory boards, including the Investor Forum and Royal London Asset Management’s Responsible Investment Advisory Committee.
